The Planets, a suite with seven movements, was written by the English composer Gustav Holst between 1914 and 1916. Each movement of the suite is meant to represent a different planet: This one, the first movement, is meant to represent the planet Mars.

The footage for this video is rather special: it is an animation of the descent, landing, and initial exploration of the surface of Mars by NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover. The video and dramatic music combine surprisingly well!
